I had the opportunity to work with a director, Yvette Freeman Hartley, who was part of the original Broadway cast. This production honored the show’s original 1970s setting, highlighting Black culture from that era. It was my first time handling full costume construction without shop support, creating nearly 80 costumes independently. The school had been awarded the Craig Zadan Pathway for Equity in the Arts grant, which supports under-resourced communities.​
